ABOUT US

Centro del Estudiante y Maestro Investigador

El Centro del Estudiante y Maestro Investigador (CEMI) is a women own 501 (c)(3) established in Puerto Rico since 2013. In a period of 10 years, the organization has served youth and elder people. CEMI fosters, facilitates and develops the skills and knowledge necessary for self-sufficiency, through its projects. It focuses on the most vulnerable communities, focusing efforts on each individual becoming the best instrument of renewal. Specializes in serving adult learners delivering educational courses and conducting research and development efforts providing access to continue their studies or enter the labor community. In collaboration with public agencies we serve and help senior citizens that have been victims of crime, using a multidisciplinary model to better emotional and physical health of everyone that visits our centers.

OUR MISSION & PURPOSE

The mission of CEMI PR is to offer the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills that optimize resources and processes within various fields of action so that each individual is and feels instrumental in the continuous renewal of himself and his community.

The purpose of CEMI PR is to create links between people and organizations to make possible the research and development of projects, resources and services; Optimize the economic solvency and citizenship of women and men in Puerto Rico.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

The Centro del Estudiante y Maestro Investigador (CEMI) approach is to create links between individuals and organizations to make research and creativity viable from an early age to adulthood and to optimize the economic solvency and sustainable citizenship of women and men in Puerto Rico. CEMI's mission is to offer the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills that optimize resources and processes within various fields of action, so that each individual becomes the best instrument for continuous renewal of himself.

Through its projects, it seeks to promote, facilitate and develop the skills and knowledge necessary for self-sufficiency and the achievement of a job; make it easier for the adult head of the family to acquire the necessary knowledge to become a full partner in the educational development of their children; facilitate the adult completing high school or its equivalency; and eradicate illiteracy from the country.

As our principal guide practices, we believe in social justice and empowerment, because it is fundamental by working with certain people and specific kinds of programs. It’s a way to promote fairness, equity and justice with other organizations that represent social justice and empowerment. It enables our participants become more powerful and gain some degree of control over their lives, improving their quality of life.

OUR DIRECTORS

Our organization has a commitment to ensure the services that are provided. Each staff member brings dedication and passion to their work. The Board of Directors is instrumental in making decisions about the organization, as well as developing its strategic plan. It is represented by the private industry, the banking industry and  education experts.

We would like to thank those who have supported us through the years, and continue to assist us in meeting the needs of youth and adulthood.
